Our History

Covenant College of Education is a brain child of Denco Consult Limited. This is an Educational Consultant Firm with many years experience, mobilization, organization and coordination of different Educational programmes at all levels in Abia in particular and Nigeria in general. The overall Academic descents in Nigeria was traced to different factors among which is poor Teachers’ Education which informed Covenant College of Education Aba, Nigeria.

The College of Education is charged with the central mandate and mission of imparting general and vocational education in applied sciences and Vocational Education, coupled with applied research and such extension services as would assist in achieving national self-sufficiency in the minimum time while at the same time catalyzing and sustaining urban development.

The concept of the College is not restricted to Nigeria. Infact, such Colleges are spread all over the world. It has been stated that the general concept originated from the “American General Philosophy of Education” which promised economic development in the Nation and the world at large.

The College is generously endowed with highly qualified manpower and the major resource for general development – land. It therefore has unlimited scope for development to achieve its vision of knowledge, applied sciences, commerce and technology.

As clearly spelt out by the National Commission for the Colleges of Education (NCCE), which is regulatory body by law for all Colleges of Education in Nigeria, the philosophy of this Institution include the production of:

i. Trained manpower in the applied science, technology and commerce at the sub-professional level.
ii. Persons with the general knowledge and vocational skills necessary for industrial, agriculture and general economic development of the country.
iii. Competent teachers in technical fields for primary and junior secondary school classes in accordance with the 6-3-3-4 system of education in Nigeria.
iv. To be a leading centre for Academic Excellence and Development of Teachers’ education through Learning and Research.

Therefore, the philosophy of this institution is not only imparting theoretical knowledge but also giving emphasis to practice skills and experiences so that the finished products’ of this College would not only be gainfully employed as teachers, but could also create and generate jobs, having received training in Science, Technical, Vocational and Computer Technology among others.

To produce Teachers with sound mind, integrity, discipline and passionate enough to drive primary and secondary education.


Admission Requirements

(1) SSCE/WAEC/NECO/TCII, with three (3) credits in relevant subjects in one sitting or four credits at two (2) sittings.
